Momentarily, the ‘Spirit of Delft’ is (rather exceptionally) purchased, a typical Huisman, especially designed for the Admirals cup in 1973. This historical ship has been tested for her sail capacities and power, by the TU-Delft and caused the wharf Huisman to be internationally known.
The still sensational “Spirit of Delft” started from Turkey, went through Spain and sailed back with the Janna crew. Unfortunetaly, she is not in pristine condition anymore.
Janna does not restore the ship, but is refitting her. The drawings are already put down on paper. The ship is refitted to become a cruiser racer, a real Huisman worthy. Due to this combination, you can depart with this ship, but also join a contest if you like.
The ship’s interior is largely dismantled, foamed and finished with modern materials. The engine will be revised and the power is doubled, in order to safely sail into the harbour, even in extreme weather conditions. The upholstery will become contemporary, with supple leather and lots od stainless steel. And the gear will be replaced to the current norms.

24-04-2007 The ship is now ready to refit
14-05-2007 The ship is now inside the hall, the tub can be removed.
24-06-2007 The construction of the cockpit has now started
The results of the new cockpit and tub are very positive.
17-10-2007 We had some setbacks concercing the construction of the new tuband cockpit. Plus, the filler appeared to be old and had to be removed, instead of blasting which was the original plan.
18-10-2007 Today, the teak deck will be modified so that it will fit the new layout.
